The education and training of our younger generations is a commitment to creating a more just and supportive society. Therefore, as in previous years, Amigos à Mão organised a campaign for the collection of school materials, to support children and young people from the most needy families in our community.
This year, in addition to the usual collection of school items and donations that has recently taken place, the Parish of Cascais joined an initiative with Cáritas Diocesana de Lisboa, in collaborating with LIDL supermarkets. Thus, over the weekend of the 16th and 17th of September, several volunteers from the Parish were at the LIDL stores in Fontaínhas and Torre to collect new school supplies that will now be distributed to students who are supported by the parish’s partner institutions.
Thanks to the generosity of hundreds of people who bought and donated material and the availability of parish volunteers who carried out this act of soladarity, thousands of items of school supplies were collected that will help provide a better school year for 180 children and young people in our community. The goods will be distributed to institutions that support the families.
On behalf of everyone, Amigos à Mão would like to thank so many for their collaboration in this campaign, which was a genuine success.
