Pegadas

Pegadas is an association made up of 80 volunteers between the ages of 18 and 25. Pegadas came into existence in 2008 and, working with 5 institutions based in council housing estates on the outskirts of Lisbon. today consists of various summer camps.

In collaboration with these institutions, Pegadas accompanies children and young people throughout the year and, in the summer, provides them with a week in the country, all expenses paid.

By caring, Pegadas aims to transmit values.

Their values are:

  • Service and love for others, cultivating a life of sharing and community;
  • Simplicity and detachment from material goods for a path of true happiness;
  • The importance of effort, trust and cooperation to achieve previously discerned and established objectives.

Their mission is:

  • To make annual participation in free summer camps accessible to all young people through support and donations;
  • To create true and meaningful relationships, based on the values ​​of the Christian faith, so as to contribute to the growth of young people;
  • To be an active presence in the lives of the young people we accompany throughout the year, contributing to school success, reinforcing the value of work and merit.

Lastly, by basing their organisations within council housing estates and by establishing friendly relationships, strengthened in the Christian faith, Pegadas aims to accompany the greatest number of children and young people.
