National Scout Corps
Division 729

In 1981, a group of young people parishioners grew in their desire to practise their faith differently. Following the scout method, which offered unique opportunities for service, sharing, growth and adventure, this group of young people, led by leader António Pinto and parish priest Father Raúl Cardoso, embraced the challenge of forming a group of Scouts. Thus, on the 7th of April 1981, Division 729 Cascais of the National Scout Corps was inaugurated.

Since the eighties, hundreds of children and young people have passed through our Division. Through camps and hikes, service to the community and adventures, from north to nouth of the country (and even across borders), in the sun and rain – but always with a smile – the Scout ideal has touched and continues to touch the lives of many children and young people of our Parish.

The scouts offer a non-formal educational method that offers opportunities for personal, social, physical, intellectual and spiritual development, always guided by Catholic values. To be a scout is to be an example of rectitude, it is being trustworthy, being alert and placing yourself at the service of those in need.

Our scouts are divided into groups: from the Lobitos (7 to 10 year-olds), to the Exploradores (10 to 14 year-olds), continuing with the Pioneiros (14 to 17 year-olds) and ending with the Caminheiros (18 to 22 year-olds). Each group has a set of leaders who guide them.

Being a 729 scout … is all of this and much more! Would you be interested in getting to know our Division better? Are you between the age of 7 and 77 and interested in trying the scouts? Talk to us!
