The Church in Portugal lives off the generosity of Christians. Therefore, the Christian who is part of an ecclesial community is called to contribute to the support of that same community. The parish contribution, formerly called congrua, is a way of helping to provide for the support of the parish, as an apostolic structure, and its pastors.

Every Christian is invited to make his/her annual parish contribution, in whatever way he/she sees fit, and according to his/her conscience and possibilities.
